Cookery Workshops!

I know it is a bit late and Christmas already seems light years ago but I have only just found a minute to sit down and write about the Cappi Cooks Christmas baking workshops that took place in the run up to Christmas. We had two lessons, Christmas baking and a gingerbread house workshop. They were so much fun! As much for me as for those who attended and I was really chuffed and impressed with the great baked goodies that were produced. The Christmas baking included mince pies, red velvet cupcakes, stained glass cookies and DELICIOUS white chocolate and cranberry Blondies (the recipe of which I will post soon because they are way too good to be just for Christmas). The gingerbread house workshops allowed everyone to make a horde of gingerbread snowflake cookies and men and then decorate/smother a home made ginger bread house with royal icing and sweets.

Regrettably I took very few pictures of the results and especially of all the fantastic and individual gingerbread houses. Here are a couple of very shaky, very shady photos... I hope you can still see how cute they are!

I also managed to get a couple of pictures of one of the kiddies novel way of storing all her many many gingerbread babies!

Cappi Cooks - Bread Making Courses and Cake Decorating Lessons

Cappi Cooks is now up and running! Cappi Cooks is a cookery school that offers bread making courses, cake decorating lessons along with special seasonal classes and children's cookery workshops.

The bread baking course The Basics of Bread is designed to offer an introduction to the techniques and skills required to bake the perfect loaf of bread. The four hour lesson in bread making will give and understanding of the science behind good baking and explain about yeasts and raising agents. In the Cappi Cooks bread baking lesson each student will make and bake four varieties of bread; a Cobb loaf, white bread rolls, soda bread and a flavoured loaf designed by the individual during the bread workshop. At the end of the bread lesson everyone takes home a load of top tips, a great collection of recipes to try at home and of course all the baked goods!

The Cupcake Decorating Lesson is a two and a half hour cake decorating course. During the Cappi Cooks icing class each student will be taught to decorate twelve pre-baked cupcakes using piping techniques and sugar craft. The cake decorating class will teach how to use butter cream, marzipan and sprinkles to create swirls and roses. After the cupcake decorating class each student should go home with the confidence to give cupcake decorating a go at home and of course twelve beautifully decorated and packaged cupcakes.

The cookery lessons at Cappi Cooks are available for all ages and levels of experience. Its cooking workshops and courses are designed to offer an affordable, relaxed and informal environment to learn to bake, cook and decorate.
