So the last couple of weeks have been pretty busy in the Cappi Cooks kitchen. For me the Jubilee basically = a huge amount of cake! I was awash with red, white and blue icing covering mini cupcakes, cupcakes, cake pops and big cakes. This marathon of patriotic cake making culminated in a three tiered beast of a jubilee inspired cake topped off with a crown which I will post about shortly, as soon as I have gathered some acceptable photos (preferably that don't include my face!).

Orange Ombre
The brief was for an orange birthday cake. We love a simple brief in the
Cappi Cooks kitchen!
This gave me an opportunity to make another one of the ombre cake I'm loving at the moment and that are doing the rounds all over the blogoshere at the moment.
It turned out gorgeous and went down very well with the birthday boy which is always lovely to hear.
And I don't think there could be any arguments that it was definitely a very orange cake!

Cappi Cooks Icing Lesson
We had another fab cupcake decorating class at Cappi Cooks last week. The lovely ladies learnt how to pipe swirls and flowers onto cupcakes and topped them off with delicate with marzipan roses.
Using brilliantly vibrant colours and accomplishing the two tone piping technique perfectly I hope the girls were very happy with the results!
And I finally remembered to take some pictures! So at last I can blog about the lessons! Even though I did only manage it when the cakes were already boxed up and ready to go and the photos are looking slightly shady...
Will definitely improve on this and take some better pictures of the next Cappi Cooks icing lesson...

Check out Cappi Cooks in SW Magzine!
The August edition of SW Magazine featured the Cappi Cooks Basics of Bread Lesson in its list of what to do in South West London.
This monthly lifestyle mag picked out our bread baking class as the event to attend in Balham this month!
And yes you will find us next to battersea's main event, a 'Piggy Day'!
The Cappi Cooks Basics of Bread course is a four hour introduction into how to make great bread. This bread baking class will arm you with a real understanding of how yeast works whilst teaching you the techniques to bake four delicious types of bread. Each student will normally make a Cobb loaf, a soda bread, pitta breads and design their own flavoured bread.
At the end of the lesson everybody will take home their fabulous bread, a whole host of recipes and the know how to go home and keep baking!
So if you are looking for the top event in Balham this month, or you are just looking to try your hand at learning to bake really great bread then check out the Cappi Cooks bread baking course.
If you are interested and would like to find out more information about the bread lesson or other Cappi Cooks classes and book yourself on course then please visit the Cappi Cooks website www.cappicooks.co.uk

Cookery Workshops!
I know it is a bit late and Christmas already seems light years ago but I have only just found a minute to sit down and write about the Cappi Cooks Christmas baking workshops that took place in the run up to Christmas. We had two lessons, Christmas baking and a gingerbread house workshop. They were so much fun! As much for me as for those who attended and I was really chuffed and impressed with the great baked goodies that were produced. The Christmas baking included mince pies, red velvet cupcakes, stained glass cookies and DELICIOUS white chocolate and cranberry Blondies (the recipe of which I will post soon because they are way too good to be just for Christmas). The gingerbread house workshops allowed everyone to make a horde of gingerbread snowflake cookies and men and then decorate/smother a home made ginger bread house with royal icing and sweets.
Regrettably I took very few pictures of the results and especially of all the fantastic and individual gingerbread houses. Here are a couple of very shaky, very shady photos... I hope you can still see how cute they are!
I also managed to get a couple of pictures of one of the kiddies novel way of storing all her many many gingerbread babies!
